more and more dead links on this page over time. It may be years at a time
before I return to this page to remove dead links and replace some links
with better links. In the meantime, 'WEB SEARCH links' are provided on this page.

"WEB DIRECTORIES" on Hiking-Camping   (such as DMOZ)

< Go to Table of Contents, above. >
< Go to Home page. >
  • DMOZ "Open Directory Project" Directory on HIKING -
    dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Hiking/
(see the links at the bottom of that page --- or click on categories such as
"Backpacking" or "Books and Maps" or "Directories" or "Guides and Outfitters" or
"Organizations" or "Personal Pages" or "Trails" or "United States" --- or click on
the Google GROUPS at the bottom --- or click on the other search engines)

  • DMOZ "Open Directory Project" Directory on CAMPING -
    dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Camping/
(see the links at the bottom of that page --- or click on categories such as
"Campgrounds" or "Directories" or "Family Camps" or "Memberships" or
"Organizations" or "Personal Pages" or "Recreational Vehicles" --- or click on
the Google GROUPS at the bottom --- or click on the other search engines)

  • Wikipedia List of Web Directories

  • It seems that 'web directories' are dying out. Google and Yahoo closed
their 'directories' down around 2014. It seems that it is just not feasible
for a team of people to keep up with all the sites that are going dead and
the new sites that appear. Even the DMOZ site, above, seems to be outdated
in some parts of the site.

So, rather than depending on the 'dmoz.org' links, here are some WEB SEARCHes
to get you started with 'hiking and camping' inquiries --- using
    keywords 'hiking trails', and
    keywords 'hiking boots', and
    keywords 'free campsites'.

  • Another approach to take:
Go to the Wikipedia 'Category:Hiking' page and start following links from that page.

  • Go to Table of Contents, above.
