INTRODUCTION : Below are images of SEPARATOR LINES (animated GIFs) that can be used as 'decopics' (decorative pictures) when authoring web pages. In particular, this kind of image (usually very wide, and very small in height) is suited to distinctly separate blocks of text or blocks of images on web pages --- while lending some interest to the separator line.
These separator animations are NOT arranged in any categories --- yet. If they start to number in the hundreds, some sort of categorization may become useful. Until then ...
How to use this page : Simply scroll down this page. With most web browsers, you can right-click on an (animated) image and select a 'Save As' option to save the animated GIF file to your local computer storage.
Below each image is a name for the GIF file. The file name gives the X,Y size of the GIF file in pixels --- as well as a description of the animated image. You can use the 'Find text' facility of your web browser to use keywords to find images that might be useful. For example, if you were looking for a dividing line involving flames, you could search for 'flam'.
Notes on these animated GIFs : Most of these animated GIFs are small to medium size (less than about 640x480 pixels) --- so they are suitable for title or footnote areas of a web page --- as well as for separating blocks of text or images. They are also of a suitable size to be used as decorative elements in blog pages and in emails. These animated images are like a next step beyond bolding of text --- to draw attention to a section of text.
Most of the 'separators' are horizontally oriented. The vertical separators are at the bottom of the sequence of images.
There are some links to web development resource sites and to web searchers, at the bottom of this page --- to help when you cannot find a type of animated image for which you are looking.
The images are presented here mostly for my own personal use --- as a reference and as a means of archival. Also, these pages help me categorize, according to my thinking (at the time), the basic types of images archived. If others find this archive useful, so be it. AND if someone thinks they 'own' one of these animated GIFs, let me know. I will be glad to delete it. |
