INTRODUCTION: This is a page of 'laptop' computers that were advertised for sale (NEW, unused, not-refurbished) for about $350 or less --- mostly in 'brick-and-mortar' stores. I have found that one can usually find lower prices for 'laptops' at 'brick-and-mortar' stores than on the internet. This is probably because one can take advantage of 'clearance' and 'inventory reduction' sales --- and 'promotional offers'. Up to about 2020, 'laptop' computers were distinguished from 'netbook' and 'chromebook' computers by having a larger screen size (greater than 14 inches diagonal) and by having a CD/DVD drive, as well as a storage drive of more than 120 Gigabytes. Since about 2019, many 'laptop' computers no longer have a CD/DVD drive, but they usually have a storage drive of way more than 120 Gigabytes --- typically more than 250 Gigabytes. 'Netbook' computers are/were mostly distinguished by having a small screen size (less than 15 inches) and no CD/DVD drive and a storage drive of more than 120 Gigabytes --- along with an RJ-45 ethernet port, to support WIRED connection to the internet.
NOTE: Since about 2019, 'chromebooks' have been marketed heavily --- but they are different from 'laptops' and 'netbooks' in the fact that they usually have only a 32 or 64 Gigabyte storage drive. (And they usually do NOT have a WIRED ethernet connector.) The main feature that this page uses to distinguish a 'laptop' computer from a 'netbook' (mini-laptop) is a screen size of more than 14 inches. (A further feature that distinguishes a 'laptop' from a 'netbook' or a 'chromebook' has been a weight of more than 3 pounds --- about 1.4 kilograms --- mostly because of the large screen.) The main features that this page uses to distinguish a 'laptop' computer from a 'chromebook' is a storage drive of more than 120 GB and a screen size of more than 14 inches. The computer 'makes' may be shown in the order --- Acer, HP, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, other. INFO SOURCES NOTE: Up to about 2019, I was able to collect laptop computer model and price information by looking at Sunday newspaper ads in a local newspaper. BUT ... Starting about 2019, 'brick-and-mortar' stores (like Target, Walmart, OfficeDepot/Max, BestBuy) advertised computers-for-sale far less than before (in local newspapers). So I tried to use web searches to find laptop computer bargains, using keywords such as BUT, I kept finding pages that said that the computer make-and-model on the page was
In short, I found that looking for computer bargains on the web was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Very frustrating and time-wasting. By the way, I found that computer-info web pages of Walmart, Target, OfficeDepot/Max, and BestBuy came up MUCH, MUCH more slowly than the computer-info web pages of Amazon. So it was another frustrating and time-wasting experience to wait for a Walmart/Target/OfficeDepot/BestBuy web page to be rendered. Apparently the Amazon web page developers are MUCH, MUCH better than the web page developers for Walmart/Target/OfficeDepot/BestBuy. Having said that, if I 'stumble on-line' across a laptop that meets the parameters of this page, I may add such a laptop to this page (typically from Amazon because it is a less-frustrating web site to deal with). A new way of finding laptop bargains: To find bargains (in 'laptops' and 'netbooks' and 'desktops'), I found that I had to periodically roam the aisles of stores like Walmart, OfficeDepot/Max, and BestBuy to look for clearance sales --- with Walmart offering the best hopes of a bargain in 2021. Target stopped offering desktop computers around 2018, and after about 2019, they offered mostly 'chromebooks' --- with hardly any 'laptop' offerings. So looking in Target stores was usually 'a bust'. And I have seldom found bargains at Costco, because most of the computers offered by Costco are above $500 in price.
Bottom line: AGE & FEATURES NOTE: If you are looking for a 'laptop' to do basic processing (email, web browsing, document editing, image editing, etc.), I have found that a computer manufactured about 6 years ago can work just fine --- if it has the features you want --- such as your desired screen-size, storage drive size, memory size, wired ethernet port, at least 3 USB ports, HDMI video port, etc. I say this coming from the point of view that I would 'wipe' the Microsoft Windows operating system off of the old computer --- and replace the OS with a Linux OS like Ubuntu MATE (Wikipedia page) --- and install recently released versions of 'apps' like web browsers, text editors, image editors, media players & editors, an email processor, office apps, etc. So for example, in 2021, a laptop manufactured in 2015 may suit your purposes just fine --- for several more years. I generally look for CPU's rated higher than 500 --- which is about twice the single-thread rating of Intel Atom processors used in 'netbook' computers circa 2010. For example, search for the text string '1920x1080' to find laptops that have an 'FHD' screen --- rather than 'HD' = 1366x768.
